Had Braillon read the original article of the Cochrane meta-analysis instead of looking at the abstract in a secondary journal,he would have noticed that his conclusion is based on the following set of “low-dose” thiazide studies:European Working Party on High Blood Pressure in the Elderly,hydrochlorothiazide/triamterene 25/50 mg;Hypertension in the Very Elderly Trial,indapamide 1.5 mg;Hypertension in the Very Elderly Trial pilot,bendrofluazide 2.5 mg;Kuramoto,trichlormethiazide 1 to 4 mg;Medical Research Council-O,hydrochlorothiazide/amiloride 25 mg/2.5 mg;Post-stroke Antihypertensive Treatment Study,indapamide 2.5 mg;Systolic Hypertension in the Elderly Program,chlorthalidone 12.5 to 25 mg;and Systolic Hypertension in the Elderly Program pilot,chlorthalidone 25 to 50 mg.
